Family and Kids
When Was The Last Time You Ate Together?

Recent research on the "family unit" revealed that on average, parents converse 14.5 minutes per day with their children. Eating a healthy dinner meal with your kids not only strengthens the body, it also allows you to bond with your children. Finding time to eat dinner with your kids should become a vital part of your daily routine. Studies have shown that this type of bonding has many dietary and social benefits. In order to make this family gathering enticing, parents should involve their kids in preparing the dinner menu. The meal does not have to be lavish. Some ideas… Parents should place some tasty crackers and cheese on the table, such as Tnuva 95% Fat Free White Cheese or Cheese Spread, along with tuna fish salad, omelet's, sliced vegetables with olive oil etc.…let them dip, smear, etc. The importance here is that they are eating healthy and conversing.

Cheese Creates A Healthy Eating Pattern

According to the USDA's "My Pyramid For Kids," the long term health of children and adults alike can be achieved by moderate intake of nutrient-rich foods including low-fat and fat-free dairy foods.

Another recent study found that kids who consume the most cheese have the lowest sugar intakes. Cheese has also recommended to parents as a healthy snack food alternative to sweetened junk foods.

Tnuva's great-tasting, low-fat Cheese Bites (Olive & Natural Flavor) are the perfect healthy snack treat alternative for youngsters that are also rich in calcium.

The American Dietetic Association, National Dairy Council and American Academy of Family Physicians have recommended 'Daily Meal Planners' for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snack Time for the entire family which incorporates dairy foods into your diet. For instance, these renowned organizations recommend low-fat cheeses for lunch or dinner that can be used for toasts… or grated over pasta dishes. These organizations maintain that families which consume calcium, Vitamin D, potassium and magnesium enriched dairy foods at a younger age, will inevitably stave off the potential for debilitating osteoporosis later in life.

Eating or snacking on a variety of calcium enhanced Tnuva cheeses such as Emek Cheddar (which can be grated and sprinkled over pastas and salads), or spreading low-fat Tnuva Creamy Soft Cheese over a piece of toast, can go a long way towards maintaining a healthy family lifestyle for years to come.
